Western Schley Pecan Tree

Western Schley Pecan Trees are large, long-lived shade trees that can reach 30-70 feet tall with a spread of 40 to 60 feet at maturity. For the healthiest growth, plant your tree in a spacious, sunny location at least 40 to 60 feet away from buildings and other large trees. With plenty of room to spread its branches, your Western Schley Pecan Tree will provide beautiful shade and delicious homegrown pecans for decades to come!

Your Western Schley Pecan Tree is a long-term investment that rewards patience with delicious, nutritious nuts! Grafted to an Elliot Pecan rootstock, it may begin producing pecans in approximately 5 to 10 years. For the best nut production, plant your tree in full sun, provide consistent moisture during establishment, and ensure it has access to compatible pecan pollen for pollination.

Western Schley Pecan Trees thrive in full sun, ideally receiving at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. They prefer deep, well-drained soil with plenty of room for their extensive root systems. Once established, these hardy trees can tolerate periods of dry weather, but regular watering is especially important during their early years and while nuts are developing. For the strongest growth and best harvests, choose a sunny planting location with good drainage and provide supplemental water during extended dry spells. Western Schley is best adapted to arid climates, and is highly susceptible to scab in humid regions.
