1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a sunny location with well draining soil for the best results. Dig a hole twice as wide and just as deep as the root ball. Place the plant in the center, backfill with soil, and water well to settle the roots. Spread a layer of mulch three feet around the plant to conserve moisture, insulate roots, and suppress weeds.

2. Watering: Ensure this shrub receives regular watering, especially during the first growing season. Once established, roses need deep watering once a week and more frequently in times of high heat and dry weather. Always water roses at their base to prevent disease; avoid overhead watering.

3. Pruning: In late spring to early spring, prune back by at least one third its total height, just as the new buds begin to emerge on the stems. Prune just above a healthy bud, as these produce the best growth.
