A Completely Unique Shade Tree You Can Grow Anywhere!
Want to branch out from the ordinary shade tree but still plant something reliable and maintenance-free?
The Kentucky Coffeetree's unique upward branching pattern creates striking visual interest all year around and guarantees that no two trees will look alike.
Best of all, this tree is hardy, tolerant and adaptable in every way possible…
Cold or warm climates, polluted or clean air, poor or rich soil, soggy or dry conditions - it doesn't matter - the Kentucky Coffeetree can thrive where other trees can't.
And it's completely resistant to pests, diseases, deer, and other damaging wildlife… nothing's going to take down this sturdy, dependable tree.
You'll love everything about this tree, including…
- Spectacular winter silhouette - the branches reach upward in a crossed pattern unlike any other tree, you'll love how it stands out in winter
- Airy shade - a light canopy means you get shade without killing all the plant life under the tree.
Growing to 60-70 ft., you can plant the Kentucky Coffee anywhere you want to create visual interest.
Yet, you'll still get all the benefits of a shade tree. Often planted in golf courses and large, open parks, this tree is known for perfectly combining form and function.
That's why this variety is always a huge hit - the tolerance, adaptability and beauty of the Kentucky Coffee.
Note: Our nursery carries male and female Kentucky Coffee trees. Our trees are younger and not separated; you will receive either a male or a female upon delivery.
- Male trees will lack flowers but have an elegant vase shape with a narrow crown and draping branches. Similar to understory trees but without sacrificing the height.
- Female trees feature rose-scented flowers that turn into large seed pods for seasonal interest, and the large size means easy cleanup for you!

This is the best way to get a tree
I'm surprised you could send such a healthy tree through the mail. It look like it was already planted.

The first tree arrived with damage and the customer service department was great! They rushed me a new one and it looks great. Thanks for all your help
Doing Well Now, Inspite of Damaged, Delayed Shipping
I ordered 2, at different times. One showed up on time and we'll packed, the other was about a week late and the box was heavily damaged, but the tree looked "okay". Both trees were almost 6' tall, and appear sturdy, with good straight trunks and well formed root systems. Both planted shortly after arrival and were dormant upon arrival and have now started to leaf out. I understand the KCT is one of the last trees to leaf out in spring. This tree is in my USDA growing zone, buy not in the Sunset zone, which is curious. Hope it does well out in Western Washington state. I wish I knew if I had male or female trees. I guess time will tell.
