It's Oct. 2 in southeastern Connecticut, about 7 miles from the shoreline as the crow flies. This is the first growing season for my Everbearing Raspberry bush. Here it is in early October, with evening temps around 48 to 55 degrees, and daytime temps around the mid 60s. And I'm still picking delicious, sweet raspberries! As you can see from my photo I let the plant grow much too fast, which delayed the fruit-bearing. I'll prune it properly before the spring, and keep at it so the berries develop much sooner. Right after planting I gave it a good serving of Berrytone fertilizer, and apparently the raspberry bush loved it. I've also noticed that, at least so far, the wildlife is leaving the fruit alone. Maybe my ultrasonic blinking repellers really are working! The berries look just like the website photos, and they're a taste treat, not to mention so good for you. I'm very happy with my Heritage Everbearing raspberry bush!!
I ordered 2 plants, in the first shipment, one of the plants had unfortunately been quite damaged during shipping. However, I got an immediate response, and a new plant was sent quickly. I've been super impressed with the amount of growth during this first season, including multiple handfuls of large, sweet berries! Very happy overall.
they arrived a little wilted but I put them right into the compost , soil mix and kept them really well watered. they responded wonderfully, new leaves, green branches, good green growth. I even got a couple of tiny fruits; I believe they are happy; lets see how they make it through the winter in New England.
Overall- Well the first time around was not great. But you certainly made up for it the second time around!!!!!! 👌
Just received last week and already sprouting new growth. Can't wait for it to start producing fruit.
