Fall Color in the Summer

Why Flame Thrower® Redbud Trees?

Delivering rich fall color when most other varieties are plain green, the Flame Thrower® Redbud has all the great attributes of the Redbud...just in a bold new hue for your landscape.

Heart-shaped foliage emerges in a strong burgundy red that turns yellow, then green as it matures. As each leaf grows, you'll see a beautiful blend of multiple colors on every branch, setting your garden alight and giving you the best yard on the block.

In early spring, each branch of your Flame Thrower® welcomes the season with lovely reddish-purple flowers. That means you get color from month to month with your Flame Thrower®, with unbelievable elegance in spring and warm autumnal tones in summer.

About Bloomables®: Bloomables® makes it easy to have a garden that blooms all season. This collection of roses, shrubs, and perennials have been carefully selected to provide an easy and beautiful gardening experience. Bright colors, unique textures, and of course, amazing blooms, make this collection one-of-a-kind.

The trees arrived on time

The trees arrived on time and appeared healthy. They are surprisingly tall for the size of the trunk, however; and required added extra support for the floppy top. Looks like it will be a few years before they will be able to stand alone. I'm hoping some branches will develop before they get much taller. Very gangly right now. If you have specific info on care, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Trees.com Plant ExpertHi Gwendolyn, it’s good to hear the trees arrived healthy. Young redbuds often put on height before they develop a thicker trunk and fuller canopy, so some temporary support is completely reasonable. Keep the stakes loose, water deeply when needed, and give them time to settle in. They should become sturdier and fuller as they mature. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need any help!

Good customer service

My original order arrived with a broken leader and branches, and was not rooted into its pot. However customer service immediately made it right. This is a nice healthy tree with feeder roots visible.

I bought 2 flame throwers

I bought 2 flame throwers and they are beautiful and they look as if they have put on some growth since I planted them, I pray that the winter will be kind to them, but I have noticed that a few leaves look as if something is chewing on it, should I spray it with Captain Jacks or will the leaves fall off for the winter season?? I Love them so much, I live in Ga so I hope that the change in weather won’t affect my trees for next year. I have not seen this tree planted in any one’s yard where I live, so I very much look forward to all the compliments I will get from these trees being that I love to garden and everyone ask me about all the different types of plants I have and how beautiful our gardens are. Any care instructions will help me out for the colder months.

Trees.com Plant ExpertHi Donna, thank you for sharing your review. We are so glad to hear that your Flame Thrower Redbuds are thriving and making a splash in your garden. There is no need to spray them with Captain Jack's right now. Since autumn is here, those chewed leaves will fall off naturally in a few weeks as the trees go dormant for the winter. To prepare them for the colder months, water the trees deeply once or twice a week until late fall so the roots enter winter fully hydrated. Applying a 2 to 3-inch layer of organic mulch around the base will also insulate the roots, just be sure to keep the mulch two inches away from the trunk itself. Our team hopes you enjoy their stunning foliage for years to come!
