Although it may not be the first place that comes to mind, the bathroom is a great area to add some humidity-loving plants. The difficulty you'll run into while adding plants to your bathroom is that a bathroom can change drastically in both humidity and temperature. How to Choose Plants for the Bathroom

Finding plants for a bathroom can be one of the most challenging types of plant selection. The reason for the challenge is that a bathroom is an area like no other.

Often, for the sake of privacy, a bathroom will have few or no windows. This makes for a setting that can have very low levels of daily light. Bathrooms also fluctuate greatly throughout the day regarding temperature and humidity. That inconsistency in heat and air moisture alone is enough to kill off many plants.

But if you want to have plants in your bathroom, there are still many options that will last in your bathroom. The trick is to understand the conditions that your bathroom creates, then find plants that will respond well to those conditions.

Typically, it is the tropical plants that will perform appropriately in a bathroom setting. These plants often hail from an area of the world that is very hot and humid. If they dwell naturally in a jungle area, they are likely adaptable to shade as well.

After finding a selection of plants that stand a chance of surviving in your bathroom, you can then add your personal preference into the equation. You’ll want to find plants that will not only survive but will also add to the space aesthetically. Remember that a bathroom can be a relatively confined space. It may be best to select a species that does not take up too much room or one that you can prune to keep at a manageable size.
